Sunken Treasure vs. Everyday Survival | The El Cazador Shipwreck & The 1787 Half Real

In this full forensic deep-dive, we open the vault on two incredible artifacts from the 18th century. First, we examine Case File 1783—an 8 Reales silver coin pulled straight from the wreckage of the El Cazador, a ship whose mysterious sinking in the Gulf of Mexico forever changed the map of North America. Then, we flip the ledger to Case File 1787, exploring the heavily worn, half-real currency that actually kept the everyday colonial economy surviving day-to-day.

The Grand Illusion: How a Roman Emperor Scammed His Own Army | Case File #202

Facing an imminent military mutiny from soldiers demanding their pay, Emperor Gallienus pulled off one of the greatest economic illusions in human history.

Step into the vault as we unlock a rare piece of Italian history. This silver Denaro dates back to the Second Ambrosian Republic (1447–1450)—a short-lived, chaotic, and fascinating era in Milanese history.

The Fragment: The standout feature is the genuine Nantan iron meteorite fragment embedded directly into the coin. These fragments come from a massive meteorite fall that occurred in May 1516 during the Ming Dynasty in China.
